It's loud enough in the woodshop that for a minute, Brnine doesn't even notice their phone going off. They're talking to a student, explaining how the joints of the jewelry box are going to fit together, and simultaneously trying to keep an eye on the new transfer student who looks a little too excited to be holding a rubber mallet. All around them there's banging, there's buzzing, there's the rasp of sandpaper, and when Brnine finally registers the pinging of a cell phone amidst it all, they assume it's a student's.

"Phones on silent, guys," they remind their students wearily, but none of the kids even look at them. Brnine can hardly blame them—there are better things for them to focus on, like making sure they don't hammer their own thumbs—but it's school policy, and Brnine will get an earful if the principal catches them failing to enforce it again.

The phone alert comes again, louder this time. They're in the middle of looking around the room for the culprit when it happens again and they realize it's coming from inside their own desk. Crap. Brnine always leaves their phone on silent at work, but Nautis doesn't respect the noble Do Not Disturb setting. They shuffle over to their desk and reach covertly inside the top drawer, praying both that the transfer student doesn't jam her fingers and that the buzz of the table saw masks the persistent ping! ping! ping!

Wait...those pings aren't all coming from Brnine's phone. Brnine looks up and scans the room, and their eyes land on one particular student who is fumbling conspicuously with something under their table.

At the end of a recent mission, Brnine noticed several of the younger Nova Knights chugging water like they'd never had a drop in their life. Now Nova Coral's in the group chat, and unfortunately, they're in advice mode.

hey everyone
just a reminder
it's super important to stay hydrated when you're saving the world!
make sure you drink at least two liters of water every day
and you should always have some electrolytes handy for when you're out in the field
sports drinks, those little electrolyte powders you dump in a water bottle, whatever
gotta replace what you've been sweating out 🙂
