FIRST EVENT INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the first plot event! It's time for mission signups! You can read about the event format for this game here, but here's a quick rundown and some notes for the first time around:
Below is a list of missions related to this event. You'll get SP in exchange for signing up, and your character's combat type and skill rating will be used as modifiers for the event roll. When signups are finished, I'll roll the dice to determine the broad success or failure and post the results and event log a couple of days later. The details of the mission thread are up to you — the roll result only gives you the broad strokes.
I'm still adjusting the number of missions per event/slots per mission for a game of this size, but there are usually extra mission slots to help make sure everyone has a decent shot at something they want to do. Signing up for multiple missions is allowed, but please give everyone else a chance to sign up for missions with limited slots before signing up for a second mission.
Some missions have unlimited signups for low-stakes tasks and usually only give 1 SP. These missions are mostly optional thread fodder and/or good for a handwave as to what your character is up to during the event. You do not have to sign up for limited missions if you don't want to, nor do you have to sign up for a mission every event.
Each mission will have one or two skills associated with it that I'll ask you to rate your character on them. Please note: I'm asking you to rate proficiency in these skills as of the time of the mission. These are not set stats that you have to keep track of, and they can change over time. Rate them however you think best reflects your character's abilities at the moment!
Sometimes I will ask you to rate your character at combat or magic even though everyone is at the same power level, in which case I'm asking you to rate them relative to the power level. Some people just kind of suck at some things and other people just really excel at them. Don't hesitate to rate your character highly if they are that good!
The most important thing: all of this is just for fun. Each of these things adds a small modifier and it's all in the pursuit of flavor and a fun roleplay experience for you guys, so don't get too caught up in the weeds. As always, I'm happy to answer any questions you have.
Onto the missions! Please see the event writeup below.
Nautis continues the long and arduous process of decrypting her databanks, specifically the data that will allow her to locate the fragments of the Star Map, but it might go faster with a bit of Nova Knight magic.
But that's not the only thing to do in the hideout — until just a couple of weeks ago, this space hadn't been used for millennia. Not only is it full of dust (✨space dust✨), it's also pretty sparse as far as furniture goes. Maybe a little interior decorating is in order. If you're going to have a secret hideout, you want to make it feel nice and homey, right?
Meanwhile, the Dan Flashes craze has only spread farther among the citizens of Chalra City. It seems like every other person on the street is sporting a Dan Flashes pin these days, and the boutique is now one of the hottest spots in town. The mysterious readings Nautis is getting from the Dan Flashes store resemble the ones from Lucky Stars a couple of weeks ago, so it might be worth paying a visit.
There yet hasn't been an organized effort to investigate Lucky Stars Arcade for clues after the battle there. It's been a couple of weeks, so any mundane evidence is long gone, but there could still be lingering traces of magic. Maybe you can learn a thing or two about the people responsible — the Harbingers of the Abyss.
missions
1) Hideout Cleanup +1 SP
Skills: DIY, Stealth
Suggested Combat Type: N/A
Nautis has asked for your help in tidying up what's available of the Nashira. If it's going to be a hideout, then you might as well make it welcoming! Maybe you can even get some furniture in here, although your ability to warp yourself here doesn't include large objects, so you'll have to find a way to sneak it in through the secret passage in the arcade...
Signups are unlimited.
1. Kalim
2. Natalia
3. Optimus Prime
4. Mutsumi
5. Jamil
6. Maya
2) Fashion Scouting +1 SP
Skills: Observation
Suggested Combat Type: N/A
You don't have to go to the boutique to see Dan Flashes merch in Chalra City — it's spreading like wildfire. If you pay enough attention, you might learn something useful. Signups are unlimited.
Note: Everyone who signs up receives a special branded Dan Flashes pin!
1. Kalim
2. Natalia
3. Mutsumi
4. Jamil
5. Maya
3) Nautis's Databanks +2 SP
Skills: Magic, Technology
Suggested Combat Type: Support
Apparently some of the Nova Knights' magic could help Nautis decrypt some of her data...you don't really know anything about magically defragging an ancient alien computer, but she's pretty insistent that all you need to do is be there and be magical. There is room for up to two Nova Knights on this mission.
1. Hope
2. Mutsumi
4) Investigate: Lucky Stars Arcade +2 SP
Skills: Observation, Magic
Suggested Combat Type: Defense
The fateful battle that brought you all together for the first time happened at Lucky Stars Arcade. It's been a couple of weeks, but some readings from Nautis indicate there might still be information to be discovered there. Maybe you can find out some information about the people responsible for the outbreak of pixel violence. There is room for up to two Nova Knights on this mission.
1. Natalia
2. Maya
5) Investigate: Boutique +2 SP
Skills: Stealth, Negotiation
Suggested Combat Type: Support
Dan Flashes is still one of the hottest shops in the city. Not only are the lines wrapping around the entire block, zealous customers have begun to fight over unique new items. The more elaborate patterns, as mesmerizing and headache-inducing as they are, are clearly in the highest demand. If this really is a plot by the enemy, it'd probably be a good idea to see what you can learn from the boutique itself. There is room for up to two Nova Knights on this mission.
1. Kalim
2. Jamil
6) Showdown: Dan Flashes +3 SP
Skills: Magic, Combat
Suggested Combat Type: Attack
Nautis was right — this is a plot by the enemy! But just like last time, a powerful monster is at the heart of the whole scheme, and if you want to save the city from this fashion menace, you'll have to fight Dan Flashes himself. There is room for up to three Nova Knights on this mission.
1. Optimus Prime
2. Jamil
3. Natalia
no subject
STEALTH: 1
Combat Type: Attack
Optimus is mostly focused on cleaning and making sure the others don't damage anything should they try and get furniture in. If he brings anything it will be something relatively innocuous. Like folder chairs.
