Info ⭐︎ Missions
SIGNUPS ARE NOW CLOSED

Signups will close at midnight PST on July 13 (in practice: whatever is in my inbox when I wake up on the 14th) so that I have a day to write up the results and the log.

june i event info
This month, the new flash mob dancing craze struck Chalra City, and it keeps on spreading, expanding in genre beyond up-tempo dance music. Other, more elaborate and coordinated forms of dancing start to emerge along with the changes in music — from the waltz to the tango, swing to jazz dance, Chalra City has never been so fabulously choreographed! And it's no longer limited to trendy street corners: entire offices are suddenly abandoning their desks to have a five-minute rave in the boardroom, and whole restaurants pour out onto the streets, customers and staff alike, to shake it out in public. People seem to just kind of go into a fugue state for these brief bouts of dancing, and emerge confused but not all that alarmed, or hurt in any way. If anything, this seems to be energizing the people of Chalra City.

Which is why Nautis suspects this isn't the work of the enemy, but rather Constellation activity, so she's modified everyone's dowsing machines to track magic associated with the Star Map instead. She explains that the Constellations aren't sinister or even really sentient; rather, they are embodiments of their concepts, and more akin to whimsical spirits.

Unfortunately for our heroes, as a result of Nova Pandora and Nova Glimmer's capture, the Harbingers know about the Star Map — not only the fact that the Nova Knights are looking for it, but that it's an artifact of great magical power, and that if nothing else, they don't want it falling in the hands of their enemy. Which means that capturing the Constellations is now a race between the Nova Knights and the Harbingers.

There is some hope: two more Nova Knights, Nova Pastos and Nova Valorous, have awakened to their destiny in the first week of June. But with Nova Pandora and Nova Glimmer in the Abyss, that still only brings them to six active Nova Knights, and two of them are brand new. Nautis knows Pandora and Glimmer aren't beyond saving yet, though, and she hopes that if she can send them a magic signal through the Abyss, it might help lead them home.

missions
NOTE: If you signed up for the Showdown or Rescue missions last month, please hold off on signing up for the Capture mission so as to give other characters a chance.

1) Dowsing Machines+ +1 SP
Skills: Investigation, Observation
Suggested Combat Type: N/A
Nautis has upgraded everyone's dowsing machines to track Constellation activity instead. Much like the search for Niangniang, you just need to carry it around with you to gather data for Nautis.
Signups are unlimited.
1. Natalia
2. Mutsumi
3. Jamil
4. Cynthia
5. Kalim

2) Library: Shelving Project +1 SP
Skills: Literacy
Suggested Combat Type: N/A
While the books in the Library are largely intact, it's increasingly clear that they aren't properly sorted. Nautis is recruiting bored dedicated Nova Knights to learn the catalog system and re-shelve books where they belong.
Signups are unlimited. If you'd like your character to be looking for any kind of book in particular, let me know in your comment and I'll factor that into the roll results.
1. Mutsumi
2. Natalia
3. Jamil
4. Cynthia
5. Kalim

3) Signal Boost +2 SP
Skills: Magic, Technology
Suggested Combat Type: Attack
If Nautis can somehow send a signal through the Abyss to Pandora and Glimmer, it might make it possible for them to escape. She needs a couple of Nova Knights to lend her their magic and do some research on how they can target the Abyss. Bonus modifiers will be added for significant CR with Hope and/or Maya.
There is room for up to two Nova Knights on this mission.

1. Natalia
2. Kalim

4) Investigate: Flash Mobs +2 SP
Skills: Insight, Dancing
Suggested Combat Type: Support
The dowsing machines proved Nautis right — the dance craze is the result of Constellation activity! Boy, when isn't she right. You'll need to get closer (and possibly participate) to learn more about what Constellation is in play right now, and to find out just how it's involved.
There is room for up to two Nova Knights on this mission.

1. Cynthia
2. Jamil

5) Capture: The Dancer +3 SP
Skills: Magic, Dancing
Suggested Combat Type: Support
Thanks to the Nova Knights' hard work, Nautis is able to identify the loose Constellation as the Dancer. While the Constellations aren't exactly sentient, they all represent some desire or impulse that must be satisfied, which means that one of you will have to allow the spirit of the Dancer to inhabit you in order for your partner to capture it with their dowsing machine. Failure means that the Constellation will almost certainly fall into enemy hands instead.
There is room for up to two Nova Knights on this mission.

1. Mutsumi
2. Dirk

6) Escape: Pandora & Glimmer +5 SP
Skills: Magic, Determination
Suggested Combat Type: Defense
Pandora and Glimmer have a shot at escaping the Abyss while Shellustria's attention is on the loose Constellation — somehow, the reality of the Abyss seems more permeable in his absence. And if Nautis is able to get a signal through to them, they'll have a guiding light to follow home.
This mission is limited to Hope and Maya.
NOTE: Failure of this mission will not result in Hope and Maya remaining in the Abyss. There will be other consequences for failed rolls.

1. Hope
2. Maya
