This post is for players who have an approved invite to Stars of the Nashira to brainstorm AU concepts for a character (or characters, if you're trying to decide between more than one) you're thinking of apping. Post a comment using the form below with your thoughts and plans for your character's present and past lives, and reply to other people to help them decide on things they're not sure about yet or to suggest ways your character might already know theirs! If there’s a specific role that someone could fill for your character or vice versa, this is a great place to discuss those details.

Remember: you don't need to have all of this figured out before you app! The details of your characters' past lives, powers, and relationships will develop over time in game; this is just a handy opportunity to coordinate some stuff in advance.

Character Name: Orion Pax (Optimus Prime) "OP"
Canon: Transformers Prime
Character Blurb: Orion Pax was historical archivist working in the Iacon Hall of Records. Concerned with the growing corruption in Cybertronian society, he wound up befriending gladiator and activist(?) Megatronus and working with him to try and oust the many injustices happening. His strong sense of justice, compassion, and inspirational nature lead to him being granted the Matrix of Leadership. At this point Megatronus decided Optimus was a traitor to their cause and formed the Decepticons to bring down Cybetronian society through violence. This led to the Cybertronian Civil War, and I'm sure you can figure out the rest from there.

Orion is quiet, studious, kind, and far too generous with second chances. and third chances. and thousandth chances. He can also be overly serious and hyperfocused on goals/objectives, and holds himself and others to high standards.

Everything from here is TBD, assume everything has a (?) following it because I am not really set on anything yet

Awakening: At the moment I am thinking a dream/vision of his past life's dying wish following an ideological falling out/very messy public breakup with his now ex-boyfriend.

Present Life:
Grad student or recent grad specializing in history and society and entrenched in academia. In addition to his studies, Orion works as a librarian/teaching assistant/tutor/similar occupation that would have him in the general proximity of other characters while also being a huge nerd. Shares an apartment in one of the more historic areas of the city with his ill-tempered best friend who is in med school.

Past Life:
A noble hailing from a Lesser Constellation in proximity of the capital and leader of their region's militia, on track to join the Elite Guard. The arrival of the Abyss and subsequent war for the planet interrupted those plans.

Thought #1: Following the exodus from Hassaleh, Orion's past life was one of the first to adapt to the changing social order and became an advocate for integration between the classes. He came to be seen as a leader and protector amongst the crew and community of the Nashira. His dying wish was that their people could find a place where they would be free of the suffering brought on by the Abyss.

Thought #2: After boarding the Nashira, Orion's past life was involved in an incident of notable significance where one of his peers and a fellow noble was killed. While blameless in the accident, he took responsibility upon himself and as a result was stripped of his rank and delegated to a maintenance crew. His dying wish was that he could have lived up to his potential to be the person their people needed him to be.

In-Game Plans: At the moment just seeing how Orion integrates with the rest of the cast.

Pre-Established CR Hooks: Anything related to his academic life (classmate, professor, etc.) or his work as a librarian/TA. He's the kind of person you would "know" but have never talked to: the guy you see every day on your commute, the guy who always sits in the same spot at the library, the guy who is in a bunch of your classes but always on the other side of the room, etc. I'm open to hashing stuff out here.

Desired CR/Hooks: I am open to any and all CR always- positive, negative, you name it! A good first direction may be someone who can drag him out of his shell and actually interact with people instead of immediately going home to study.

Past life commentary, because we've talked about most of this other stuff in Discord: I like #1 personally, because I think it fits better with this particular flavor of OP. Since his present life is relatively chill and humble, I think having a past life who was a paragon of virtue with accomplishments to want to live up to would work really well for him. It's a convenient hook for any future crises of faith/conviction (a great potential manifestation of OP going into eclipse, imo).

Since his military career was derailed by the arrival of the Abyss, do you think he could have gained an initial reputation for leadership etc by participating in the fighting before he escaped aboard the Nashira? You def don't have to decide now, but I think some more fun food for thought about his past life is thinking about what he was doing during the relatively brief period when they were trying to fight back against the Abyss.

That was exactly my thought, actually! Less that his career was interrupted and more so his induction/training for the elite guard specifically, so the respect/authority he did garner was based on his efforts as a commander and more on merit than the title of the elite guard.

i would love it if maomao was one of OP's tutoring students. you know how maomao sucks real bad at studying for anything that doesn't fall under her special interest but she HAS to not fail out of this school so i think she will probably need tutoring. i think that OP should witness her putting things in her mouth that she probably shouldn't

there's a certain level of "how much do they know each other" and "are their identities revealed" too

They do seem like they would enjoy each other's company in the 'sitting in the same room never interacting' way.

At this point I'm leaning towards Orion's identity not being revealed (widely?) but I am open to ideas on that front.

As for identity stuff I do want her to be forced to reveal her identity to at least one person as a late-comer to awakening but that might not be OP

If you want that person to be OP, I'd be game. Depending on what flavor of CR you want out of that of course.

OP would be very polite about and not acknowledge it if she didn't want him to. They are co-workers and if she doesn't want to talk outside of work he respects that.
